New Publish Date

Starting today Stone Oak Macaroni Kid newsletters will be published and emailed on Sunday evenings.  Because our last newsletter was just published on Thursday, this one has a few repeat articles as well as a few new articles for Allergy Awareness week.  Although we will make every attempt to include all of the events for our area in the newsletter before it is published every Sunday, there may be changes, cancellations, or new events that we are made aware of throughout the week so be sure to come back and check the website before you plan your weekend.  If you haven't already, "like" our Facebook page and follow us on our new Twitter page where we will post any modifications to our event listings as they occur.  We strive to be your go to place for all things family friendly in and around Stone Oak/Far North Central San Antonio.  Please let us know how we can improve our free service.  And, if you love what you see, please share with your friends.  Chances are they will love it too!

Happy Mother's Day

 

What do you want for Mother's Day?  I'll go first.  I don't want flowers and breakfast in bed.  I don't want expensive jewelry or a meal at a fancy restaurant.  My request is the same each year and it is a simple one.  I want to be left alone!  Well, not completely alone.  I’ll have my collection of movies from the 80’s to keep me company.  That sounds harsh but how am I supposed to eat Natural Baked Cheetos, drink sweet tea, scarf down chocolate, and watch Dirty Dancing for the 678th time from the comfort of my bed if my kiddos are in the same room demanding Cheetos, sipping my tea, and eating all my chocolate?  Not just that, but I'd have to cough through all the swear words that I am certain were not in Pretty in Pink when I watched this movie pre-parenthood. 

Now, I absolutely love my children.  I wouldn't be celebrating Mother's Day if it weren’t for them.  But what I really want is a little time alone to seriously chill.  To take off my mommy hat and have a little time just for me.  I don't do it often enough and I believe it is necessary to maintain sanity.  A few hours of down time does this mommy good!  But after Johnny takes Baby out of the corner and Lisa makes a complete fool of herself during the final dance, I want my little bugs to run in and smother me with kisses because that is truly the best gift a mom could ever get.  No matter what day it is.  And I will be refreshed and ready to receive them.

I hope you get what you want this Mother's Day.  And I hope my hubby reads this and has everything ready for my back to the 80's time out on Sunday.

Calling All Teens!

Express Yourself Art Contest

All San Antonio teens ages 13-18 are welcome to enter the Express Yourself Art Contest hosted at Parman Library.  Pieces must be able to hang on the wall.  Winning entries will be displayed in gallery.  Deadline for entries is May 15.  Winners will be announced at an opening reception on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30pm.  For additional information and entry form call (210-207-2703) or visit Parman Library.
